Artist Statement:
My art practice is varied. I like to alternate between painting in acrylics, to constructing boxes, stitching, making dolls and papier mache objects, and drawing into altered books. I find that in doing so, each object I make refers to and draws its inspiration from what came before. My long-standing interest in Middle-Eastern culture and dance has strongly influenced my artwork.
Carefoot’s retrospective show will encompass 60+ years of her artistic life. Although primarily a fibre artist, Elizabeth works in many media, including ceramics, painting, collage, box constructions, examples of which will be included in the exhibit.
