Switzerland/Israel – Sirin Labs has launched the Solarin, a highly secure smartphone aimed at executives.

  • The smartphone is designed to prevent electronic eavesdropping and data theft
  • The Solarin features state-of-the-art security software and a minimalist design to appeal to luxury consumers

In today’s hyperconnected world, privacy is increasingly regarded as a luxury. In response, smartphone manufacturers are developing sophisticated products that are designed to prevent cyber attacks and protect sensitive information. The Solarin, priced at £9,400 ($13,800, €12,195) plus tax, is aimed at luxury consumers and features a range of aesthetic options to match its demographic’s lavish tastes.

But behind the gold plating and black diamond inlays lies military-grade software that keeps emails, messages and data secure. Users can flip a switch on the back of the handset to activate Shielded Mode, which encrypts all inbound and outbound calls and messages.

The Big Picture

Fuelled by hacking scandals and fears about government surveillance, privacy by design will become a major selling point among smartphone developers over the next few years. Find out more in our Web Summit 2015 show review.
